Objectives

Max developed Queerness in Conversation to spotlight LGBTQ+ talent & storytelling, while strengthening brand affinity amongst LGBTQ+ audiences. The sit-down interview series features Max talent discussing queerness on their series & how they navigate identity on and off-screen. We successfully execute this content by building it with queer creatives & amplifying it on  Max’s platform for queer audiences, Human By Orientation – resulting in content that is truly by & for the community.

Strategy and Execution

In “The Last of Us - Queerness in Conversation,” Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman discuss working together to bring to life a beautiful portrayal of LGBTQ+, post-apocalyptic love in the critically-acclaimed HBO Original series The Last of Us. In episode 3 of the series, the couple – Bill and Frank – captured the hearts of fans through their passion, vulnerability, and authenticity. Their relationship brought the world to tears – surprising viewers with a heartbreaking story of two gay men who find love and partnership against the odds.

In our behind-the-scenes piece of extra content, we developed and asked Murray and Nick thought-provoking questions, allowing them to analyze their characters’ narratives, relationship, and love within this heartachingly human story. Through recounting their personal reactions to this emotional episode, Bartlett and Offerman showcase how this storyline breaks the mold and reminds us that, even in the darkest moments, we can find the light within each other to survive.
