Animated stickers are a fun, lively and effortless way for our users to express themselves. As with other features, this ties back to what we’re trying to build as a product- the feeling of real human connection. While privacy and reliability are important in achieving that, expression is also a key characteristic.
The team was inspired by the nostalgic flip book to show the animation of stickers come to life. We told a short and playful story centered around the sticker's characters; adding some personality and used a cheerful original track.
Stickers were our fastest growing media type soon after we launched, which shows that our users want more ways to express themselves beyond texting.
