This doc depicts the struggle of former transgender sex-worker Kenya Cuevas who left sex work after the murder of her best friend, Paola Buenrostro.
She is now the face of the fight for transwomen’s rights in Mexico, the second most deadly country in the world for transgender people.
“In Memory of Paola” follows Cuevas as she organises brigades to deliver essential supplies in one of Mexico City’s poorest neighbourhoods during the COVID-19 pandemic, and as she opens a shelter for trans women named after her slain friend.
