Providing Hope & Health in East Africa

Entered in Nonprofit

Objectives

Partners for Care, a compassion-driven, nonprofit organization, exists to serve, equip, empower and encourage the Kenyan staff and partnering organizations we work with in East Africa to achieve the goal of eliminating needless suffering and death caused by preventable diseases – including malaria, HIV/AIDS, waterborne illnesses and malnutrition. Partners for Care was founded in 2007 by Connie Cheren, a social worker and nurse whose heart was broken by the conditions affecting children she observed during her first trip to Kenya in June 2007. Connie’s significant experience in driving and measuring outcomes to improve the health of communities in the United States, has helped her to apply those same skills to her work in Kenya.

The goal of Partners for Care is for every child to have the opportunity to live…..to have safe water, enough food to eat, attend school, and grow up healthy. We will accomplish this by partnering with like-minded nonprofits, corporations, nonprofits, and government agencies to develop and implement sustainable solutions to the problems of poverty and disease in Kenya.

Strategy and Execution

Our mission is to decrease the number of children dying from preventable diseases – malaria, HIV/AIDS, waterborne illnesses, and malnutrition. Our strategy is to employ Kenyan nationals to do the work and maintain ownership of the sustainable solutions they implement.

Partners for Care embraces the philosophy of developing local capacity in the countries we serve – presently Kenya. All of PFC’s initiatives are Kenyan-led and designed to serve the people of East Africa in sustainable ways. PFC works to develop and resource local leaders on the ground, who do the work and thus, bring hope and healing to their nation.

Since inception, Partners for Care has grown in the number and types of programs it supports, but has remained focused on maximizing the impact of programs on the ground, while minimizing the funds expended on operations in the US. In support of these philosophies, Partners for Care is organized and operates as follows:
