Our AccuWeather Ready content is created in partnership with the National Weather Service (NWS), as we are recognized as a National Ambassador and leader in NWS's Weather-Ready Nation initiative. Our strategy is to provide our users with the most valuable resources on safety and preparedness tips and tools that are easily accessible and can also be easily implemented and highly impactful. The tips and tools available in AccuWeather Ready evolve with the changing seasons to ensure we are educating consumers on weather safety topics that are immediately relevant.
AccuWeather Ready touches every department in our organization. The passion for helping save lives and educating consumers on safety & preparedness measure is felt throughout AccuWeather. The robust, integrated campaign incorporates multiple outlets including: mobile/wired web, iOS & Android apps, AccuWeather Network, HR partners, traditional media, social sweepstakes, local marketing events, and more! AccuWeather Ready Launch Day occurred on November 15, 2016. "Be Ready Day" our exciting community launch event in partnership with FDNY was held on November 22, 2016.
AccuWeather Ready has been an overwhelming success! We are proud of the work we have done to deliver the most impactful and life-saving tips and tools for consumers! The AccuWeather Ready launch in November 2016 reached millions through various outlets including a satellite media tour resulting in 24 broadcast segments garnering more than 8 million impressions and the AccuWeather Ready social sweepstakes which received over 200,000 entries by our users. Additionally, coverage of the "Be Ready Day" event partnered with FDNY extended far outside of the NYC area with more than 3.3 million impressions on social and traditional media.
As a result of ongoing extensive PR and social media coverage, our video content has been viewed over 5.5M times on web properties and is seen by over 5 million people on the AccuWeather Network. As an organization that values altruism, AccuWeather employees donated 125 coats during the AccuWeather Ready launch coat drive, which were then distributed to the United Way. Our employees also participated in an AccuWeather Ready Summer Fun Food Drive in 2017 and donated over 250 non-perishable food items for the United Way.
