The Points Guy UK YouTube channel is designed with the goal of entertaining, educating, and inspiring the current and next generation of travel-lovers. After a year of restrictions, lockdowns, and grounded airlines, we wanted to use 2021 as a chance to get back in the sky and remind our community that flying was still an accessible, enjoyable and safe way to get around during the pandemic.
Qatar Airways’ QSuite is widely regarded as the world’s best business class product and is often a bucket-list item for anyone in the travel world. We wanted to give our community an honest review of what that luxury experience looked like compared to Qatar’s economy service.
Ahead of filming, we mapped out various elements to compare between the economy and business class experiences. This included check-in, the lounge, the seat, food & drink, and much more. A QSuite ticket can often cost in excess of $3000, so it was important to highlight just how much value you’re getting for your money. To keep our audience engaged we focused on some of the more sensational parts of the experience, including footage of the three-course meal onboard and how comfy the seat was after it had been turned into a fully-flat bed. By comparing this to the economy experience in the same video we were able to serve different kinds of travellers, as well as highlight the stark difference between the two experiences.
This was our best-performing video of 2021, currently sitting on 278,000 views. Our community was delighted to finally see us review the world’s best business class, especially after their own travels had been so heavily restricted because of the ongoing pandemic. The success of this video also helped us reach our wider goal of hitting 300,000 subscribers by the end of the year.
