Objectives

FOX Sports launched a fully reimagined and redesigned app to serve the modern sports fan and transform the all-encompassing sports experience. Dynamic new features in 2021, including customizable tabs unique to each fan and gambling integrations, add to the best-in-class design and robust offering of video, storytelling, statistics and live streaming. 

The addition of the “For You” section further enhanced user personalization, allowing fans to follow their favorite FOX Sports shows and personalities in addition to their favorite league, team and player – making the FOX Sports app the first major sports media app to do so.

Strategy and Execution

FOX Sports is the industry leader in sports gambling integrations and doubled down in 2021. The FOX Sports app expanded gambling content with a new dedicated odds section on the main navigation page timed to kicking-off the 2021-2022 NFL season. Fans can click on the bet tab at the bottom of their screen to receive betting details for the upcoming games with expert analysis from FOX Sports’ impressive list of on-air sports betting personalities – making the app a one-stop-shop for betting information. 

Betting is pervasive throughout the FOX Sports app, and customizable bet slips were added in 2021 for users residing in states where sports betting is legal. In November 2021, gambling alerts were added allowing the dedicated gambling audience to receive push notifications with the latest information, from a team’s line movement to sporting news impacting odds of winning.

FOX Sports’ investment in betting content resulted in the FOX Sports app ranking #1 in the sports gambling industry for sportsbook specific traffic with four million unique visitors in December 2021.
