About Hope Jahren

A professor of geobiology at the University of Hawaii, Hope Jahren has had a huge year, publishing her first book Lab Girl to rave reviews, and also penning an eye-opening essay for The New York Times in March about the common sexual harassment of women working in STEM fields. The piece generated some controversy, mostly from men who felt the need to #mansplain to Hope via Twitter and email, further proving her point. She uses her @HopeJahren Twitter feed to give her take on science news and offer her many fans messages of support and encouragement, inspiring other women and girls to follow their dreams of a life in #STEM.
